Overruled  is a typically sensible, Shavian comedy about two married couples who both decide to go travelling around the world separately in order to have a break from each other. While travelling, husband A meets wife B, and vice versa, and a flirtation develops between both new couples, although no-one is aware that their new ‘flirtee’ is married. On returning from their travels, all four end up ‘by chance’ in the same hotel lounge and try to decide how to handle the situation. The men try to act in the way that they feel is expected of them, i.e. jealous and indignant that another man has been flirting with their wife. However, the women have a very sensible approach.

A Phoenix Too Frequent  is a beautifully poetic comedy-drama about a young widow, Dynamene, who goes into her husband’s tomb with the intention of starving herself to death so that she can join him in the afterlife. She is joined by her servant, Doto, who is there to offer support to her mistress. Two days into their fast, they are interrupted by Tegeus, a handsome soldier who wanders into the tomb, bringing food and wine with him and testing the women’s resolve.
